CHANGE OF MAILING ADDRESS FOR TAX NOTICES:
Address changes are made through the Tax Assessor’s Office, not the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office. The Tax Assessor is responsible for providing the name and mailing address of all property owners each year so that tax notices can be printed and mailed by the Sheriff. The Sheriff cannot change the name or address listed on the Assessor’s Tax Roll. The Tax Assessor will not change the mailing address for any property without the written consent of the property owner. To change the mailing address for your tax notice you will have to go to the Tax Assessor’s Office and sign a change of address form or mail in a signed, dated letter identifying your property tax account number, the property description and location and the address you want the tax notice to be mailed. The Tax Assessor’s phone number is (318) 226-6701.

HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION:
Homestead Exemptions are granted by the Tax Assessor’s Office. The Sheriff cannot grant homestead exemption and cannot change the homestead exemption status for any tax account. For questions about homestead exemption contact the Tax Assessor’s Office at (318) 226-6701.

ASSESSED VALUES:
The assessed values of land and improvements appearing on your tax notice are determined by the Tax Assessor. The Sheriff cannot change the assessed values of your property. If you wish to dispute the assessed values of your property contact the Tax Assessor at (318) 226-6701.

PROPERTY ACCOUNT NUMBERS:
It is the responsibility of each property owner to know their property tax account number and to provide this number to Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Tax Department personnel when remitting payment Payments are posted by property tax account numbers only, not by name or address. CPSO Tax Department personnel may only post payments from a printed or written document that you provide or from a tax notice issued by the Sheriff’s Office. Tax Department personnel are prohibited from looking up property tax account numbers. If you do not know your property tax account number you may request this information from the Tax Assessor’s Office at (318) 226-6701.

PAYMENTS ARE FINAL:
Before remitting payment, be certain that the property tax account number you provide is correct because once the payment is posted per your instructions, the transaction is final and will not be reversed or refunded if the payment is for the wrong property account unless an error in posting has been made by Caddo Parish Tax Department personnel.
