Marijuana grow on Roy Road seized by law enforcement

A home on Roy Road was the site of a drug investigation that yielded evidence of a large-scale marijuana growing operation, according to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Police Chief Willie Shaw.

Agents with the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit were called to 1944 Roy Road on Thursday by Shreveport deputy city marshals who were at the house to serve unrelated arrest warrants for one of the residents. Once inside, deputy marshals discovered approximately 21 pounds of processed marijuana and a hydraulic press machine used to compress marijuana into bricks.

Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit agents were notified and responded to execute a search warrant for the remainder of the property, which included over 100 junk cars and approximately 100 acres. During the search, agents discovered approximately 60 mature plants and evidence of hundreds more that had already been harvested. Agents believe the grow operation had been operating for quite some time.

The value of the marijuana seized was $82,000. The value of the marijuana previously harvested was over $250,000.

Agents were assisted in the search by the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, Caddo Sheriff’s  K-9 Unit, SPD K-9 Unit, and Caddo deputies on ATVs.

The investigation is continuing.
