Caddo detectives have arrested a Shreveport man for a string of vehicle burglaries and thefts in north Caddo Parish, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Detectives arrested Patrick Oneal Smith, 37, after a six week long investigation into a number of vehicle burglaries and thefts in the area surrounding Northwood High School and Indian Hills subdivision. According to Sheriff’s Detective Keith Fox, investigators got a break in the case when a suspect was captured on a resident’s game camera. Detectives were able to identify the suspect in the pictures as Patrick Oneal Smith and link him to several burglaries where handguns, jewelry and over $3,000 in cash were stolen. Detective Fox arrested Smith on October 31, charging him with two counts of criminal trespass, attempted simple burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft and four counts of simple burglary. Smith was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

On November 10, Sheriff’s Detective Andy Scoggins obtained an arrest warrant from Judge Mosley for Patrick Smith for additional charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and simple burglary.

Patrick Smith remains in Caddo Correctional Center with a total of $440,000 in bonds.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
