Two men arrested with synthetic marijuana

Two men have been arrested on drug charges after they were found with synthetic marijuana, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Shreveport Police Chief Willie Shaw.

On Wednesday, agents with the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force conducted a search at 1165 Gooseberry Hill in Shreveport and recovered approximately 2,106 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana, approximately $14,410 cash, two handguns, and two rifles. Sami Alshawakia, 35, was arrested for possession of schedule I with intent to distribute and illegal carrying of weapons. He was booked into Caddo Correctional Center.

During a subsequent search at the Corner Store located at 600 E. 70th Street in Shreveport, agents recovered approximately 380 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana, approximately $1,265 cash and one handgun. Wisam Sabatah, 30, of Bossier City, was arrested for distribution of schedule I and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Further investigation of bank accounts resulted in the seizure of additional money, bringing the total amount of cash seized to approximately $28,000.

Ashawakia resides at 1165 Gooseberry Hill and is believed to be the owner of the Corner Store located at 600 East 70th Street.   The Task Force was assisted in the execution of the warrants by the Bossier City Police Department, Bossier Sheriff's Office, ATF Task Force, and Louisiana Alcohol & Tobacco Control.
