A 50-year-old Waskom, Texas, woman died from injuries she received when her Geo Metro ran into the rear of an 18-wheeler on I-20 less than a half-mile from the Texas state line.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputy David Anderson said Bonnie Carol Scott, of Boggy Church Road in Waskom, was eastbound on I-20 at about 6:50 p.m. when the accident occurred. Anderson said the 18-wheeler had slowed and merged into a single lane of traffic approaching a construction zone.

Scott was taken to LSU Medical Center by Balentine Ambulance Service. Her four-year-old grand-daughter, Sarah Glass, also of Waskom, was airlifted to LSUMC by Life Air Rescue helicopter. She was listed in fair condition at 10:45 p.m.
