Sheriff’s deputies seize $25,000 in marijuana plants

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies ended a three-week investigation prompted by citizen complaints Friday night when they seized marijuana plants worth about $25,000 from a house in the Lakeview subdivision.

At about 11:20 p.m. Friday, Sheriff’s patrol deputies and narcotics agents raided the house at 2916 Lakeview and seized about 25 marijuana plants, which at maturity would be worth about $25,000. The deputies also seized a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The deputies arrested Andrew O. VanTassel, 19, of 2916 Lakeview, booked him at the Caddo Correctional Center at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday and charged him with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The deputies also issued a misdemeanor summons to Johnathan Angermeier, 18, of 3914 Gilbert, for possession of marijuana.
