Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run
May 21, 1999, will be the official Media Day for the upcoming Law Enforcement Torch Run. The media event will be at 12:00 noon on the 21st at the Riverfront Park on Clyde Fant Parkway.
Prior to the 21st assembly, the torch will have already traveled through Rodessa, Vivian, Oil City, Minden and Bossier City. Here is the itinerary:
Friday, May 14th at 11:00 a.m. from the state line to Rodessa;
Monday, May 17th from Rodessa to Vivian;
Tuesday, May 18th from Vivian to Oil City;
Wednesday, May 19th Oil City to La. Hwy 173;
May 20th La. Hwy 173 to Caddo Parish Jail (CPJ);
May 21st CPJ to Riverfront Park.
The Minden leg will be run on the morning of May 21st. Then the torch will be transported to LSP Troop G and beginning at about 11:00 a.m., the torch will be run from Troop G to Bossier City Municipal Complex to Texas Street Bridge to Market Street where it will join up with the run from CPJ then down Texas to Marshall to Crockett to Riverfront Park.
After a brief ceremony at Riverfront Park beginning at approximately 12:00 noon, the run will resume south on Clyde Fant to East 70th Street to Youree Drive and will be put to bed on La. Highway One just south of Flournoy Lucas.
On Monday, May 24th at 7:00 a.m., the run will resume to Natchitoches on Monday, rest, then on Tuesday from Natchitoches to Troop E in Alexandria. This will conclude the Northwest La Torch Run and the torch will be handed over to the Central Louisiana Leg.
