Sheriff scheduled to speak at two D.A.R.E. graduations
Caddo Parish Sheriff Don Hathaway is scheduled to be speak at Southfield School and Walnut Hill School D.A.R.E. graduations later this month.
The Sheriff will speak at two of Deputy Carl Wilkinson’s four Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program graduations, both at 1:30 p.m.. The Southfield School graduation will be Monday, May 24 and the Walnut Hill School graduation will be on Wednesday, May 26. Graduation for Wilkinson’s D.A.R.E. classes at St. Joseph School will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (May 18) and classes at Keithville School will graduate at 1 p.m. on Wednesday (May 19).
Deputy Al Newman has scheduled D.A.R.E. graduations for five schools. They are: St. John Berchmans School at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 24; Timmons Elementary School at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25; Herndon Magnet School at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26; Mooringsport School at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, and Oil City School at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 4.
The D.A.R.E. core curriculum is a 17-week series of officer-led classroom lessons that help young people build self-esteem, learn how to deal effectively with unwanted peer pressure and find healthy and productive alternatives to drugs, alcohol, violence and gangs. The Caddo and Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Offices were the first law enforcement agencies in Northwest Louisiana to teach D.A.R.E.
