Ray Paxton, a Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office employee who directs the boxing program sponsored by Caddo Parish Sheriff Don Hathaway, has been named Senior Coach of the Year by the Southern Association of USA Boxing.

At its recent meeting in Gulfport, Miss., the Southern Association also inducted Paxton into its Hall of Fame.

Paxton has been working with boys and training boxers for 25 years at his 3626 Fulton Street gym. For the past 12 years, Sheriff Hathaway has sponsored Paxton’s program as part of the Sheriff’s wide-ranging involvement with the youth of Caddo Parish.
