One Caddo Sheriff’s employee was recognized for distinguished service and another was promoted during a ceremony today at the Northwest Regional Re-Entry Facility.

Sheriff Steve Prator presented the department’s Distinguished Action Medal to Sr. Deputy Marcus Green for his actions on July 13 when he rescued a citizen from a smoke-filled house on Denny Drive. Despite visible flames escaping from the top of the house, the man, who was a neighbor, went into the house to search for a cat. When Deputy Green arrived on scene, he learned the man was inside and went in search of him. 

As the smoke began to intensify, Deputy Green found it increasingly difficult to see or breathe; however, he continued his search until he finally located the man, choking and coughing, on the east side of the residence. Though the man initially refused to leave without the pet, Deputy Green persuaded him to exit the residence, saving the citizen from serious injury.

In addition to the awards presentation, Sheriff Prator promoted Yolanda Williams to director of Jail Records. Williams is an 18-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. She also has served as manager of the Fines and Bonds Department and as a supervisor in Jail Records.

Sheriff Prator also recognized the following employees for their years of service to the Caddo Sheriff’s Office: Joshua Grimes,  Vincent Jackson, Davis Romero, Terry Brown, Latesha Jones, Matthew Lucky, Brian Riley, and Yolanda Hays, five years; Jamie Clifton and Staci Gallien, 10 years; Effie Mackey, Denetrius Bell, Samantha Berry, Reese Woodel, Kelvin E. Douglas, Antonio Harris, Bobby Herring, Meosha Hamilton, Gary Brown, Robert Montoya, Warren Longoria, and Triena Waddles, 15 years; Edward Rawls, Verdis Hays, Felix Thomas, John McDonald, and Steve Douglas, 20 years; Jay Duke, Pat Burroughs, Steven Joe, and Greg Sims, 25 years; and Rickey Johnson, Roger Harp, and Sherry Lowe, 30 years.
