A Keithville man is back in jail after he failed to show up for court on aggravated battery and aggravated assault charges.

Deputies went to the 2800 block of Holiday Lane in Shreveport late Tuesday night to arrest David Yates, 42, of Keithville, on outstanding bench warrants. But when they arrived, Yates jumped out of a window and ran into the woods to avoid arrest.  K-9 Copper located him nearby, and Yates was placed under arrest.

Yates was found in possession of 5.3 grams of suspected marijuana, 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug packaging materials, and drug pipes.

The bench warrants pertained to his original arrest in May for hitting a woman in the jaw with a wrench.

Yates was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center Tuesday on warrants for aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also booked on new charges of resisting by force, possession of schedule I, possession of schedule II with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Caddo Deputy Justin McDonnell, Deputy Jamie Hendrix, south-end patrol deputies, and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force all assisted with the arrest.
