Three people are in jail following the discovery of a meth lab in north Caddo Parish and a related car crash in Bossier Parish, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Caddo sheriff's deputies were conducting an investigation into activities at 17636 Gilliam-Scott Slough Road near Ida when Sgt. Michael Gray attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the house. The driver, Jameson Hammett, age 30, fled on Hwy. 2 over the Red River bridge into north Bossier Parish. Hammett later crashed his 2007 Chevy pickup on Hwy. 537 in Bossier. Caddo deputies said he lost control of the vehicle and flipped the truck, striking several trees. Hammett jumped out of the truck and ran into the woods but was apprehended a short while later by Gray.

There were no injuries to Hammett or a female passenger in his truck. Hammett was arrested for aggravated flight, property damage, and driving under suspension. He was also arrested on a parole violation warrant.

In the meantime, agents with the Caddo-Shreveport narcotics task force arrived at the house on Gilliam-Scott Slough Road and conducted a search of the residence. An active meth lab was discovered in the trunk of an abandoned vehicle in the front yard of the residence. 

Arrested were Summer Gass, dob 8-31-83, and James Mitchell, dob 10-14-81, both of 17636 Gilliam-Scott Slough Road. Both were charged with possession of a clandestine methamphetamine lab.

Gass and Mitchell were transported to CCC. Hammett was booked into Bossier Parish Jail.
