Search to resume tomorrow for missing teen

UPDATE: Caddo Deputies have recovered a body from Black Bayou. Identification has not been confirmed. The recovery is still in progress at this time.

Caddo deputies, the CPSO Marine Unit, and CPSO Dive Team returned to the scene today to continue the search. They were joined by Red River Parish Sheriff's deputies and Red River K9, Cethira. The dog and handler joined deputies on the CPSO patrol boat, and Cethira alerted to a location in the water. Caddo Deputy Casey Jones, who is with the CPSO Dive Team, entered the water and located the body at the bottom of the bottom of the bayou about 21 feet down.  More information will be released later. Sheriff Prator said he is very grateful to Sheriff Glen Edwards and the  Red River Sheriff's Office for their assistance with the search.

Original Release:

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office has suspended for the night its search for a teen on Black Bayou, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The boy, 14, reportedly went underwater after the Jon boat he and three friends were fishing from capsized around 7 p.m. on Saturday, spilling all of the boys into the lake. None was wearing a life vest. The others - ages 17, 16, and 15 - tried to help the 14 year old but were unable rescue him. They swam to the bank, and one was able to flag down a citizen, who called 911.

Caddo Sheriff's deputies, the CPSO Marine Unit, and CPSO Dive Team, along with LA Wildlife and Fisheries agents, responded to the scene off Hwy. 1 in Rodessa and searched until 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. They returned this morning around 7:30 a.m. and searched again until 4 p.m.

Marine Unit Lt. Donna Jackson said divers are searching a small area about 100 feet wide; however, the search has been complicated by underwater debris and obstacles such as trees, stumps, logs, and trot lines. Officials will return to the area again in the morning for day three of the search.
