Local internet investigation leads to arrest of Virginia man

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said today that a local internet investigation has led to the arrest of a Virginia man.

Christopher Keith Hicks, 33, of Suffolk, Virginia, was arrested this past week at the Franklin, Virginia, library. Hicks was charged with possession of child pornography by Franklin Police detectives. He will face charges in Virginia, but at this time, no charges have been filed in Louisiana.

Hicks is accused of using a library computer to have sexually-explicit chats.  Prator said Hicks was unknowingly chatting with Caddo Sheriff's Detective Robert Greer, who is assigned to the Northwest Internet Crimes Against Children's Task Force. Hicks transmitted child pornography to Greer, who was posing on-line as an adult.

Greer contacted Virginia authorities, who then forwarded information to Franklin and Suffolk police departments. Hicks was arrested at the library this past Friday.

Hicks is in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
