Prescription Drug Drop Box

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator has made available a prescription drug take back box where Caddo Parish citizens can dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. The box is located in the lobby of Government Plaza at 505 Travis Street in Shreveport and is available to the public between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. Liquids, needles, and drug paraphernalia are not allowed.

The box was made possible by Sheriff Prator, LA Attorney General Jeff Landry, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, and the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI) in an effort to fight opioid abuse, misuse, and addiction.

"A large percentage of people who abuse prescription drugs get them from the medicine cabinets of family and friends," Sheriff Prator said. "Having a drug drop box available to our citizens year-round will provide a way for them to safely dispose of unused prescriptions, keeping them out of the wrong hands."
