Caddo Sheriff calls meeting to discuss weather's impact on the Red

Caddo Sheriff and Homeland Security Director Steve Prator will hold a meeting of local officials at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 23, to discuss the impact of our current weather system on the Red River.  The meeting will be held at the Caddo Emergency Operations Center, 1144 Texas Avenue, in Shreveport.

As rain continues to fall, the National Weather Service is forecasting a significant rise in the Red River in Shreveport.  Currently, the river is at 16.87 feet. A forecasted crest of 28 feet is expected by mid-day, Monday, February 26.

“This only takes into consideration precipitation that has already fallen and what we anticipate to see over the next 48 hours,” Prator said. “This crest could change with additional rainfall so we want to make sure we are prepared in Caddo Parish.”

Residents are encouraged to register with the CodeRed emergency notification system on the Sheriff’s Office web page at www.caddosheriff.org. Citizens should also like the CPSO Facebook page to receive any important updates.
