Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator has announced the results of warrant round-up "Operation Zero Hour."
“ ‘Operation Zero Hour’ meant the offenders’ time was up,” Prator said. “We put together deputies from our Warrants Unit and Reserve Unit and went looking for those who were running, those who weren’t taking care of their business regarding their active warrants.”
Some 200 warrants were served during the operation which was conducted from April 2-6. The Shreveport City Marshal's Office assisted with serving the warrants. At its conclusion, 75 warrants were closed by arrest and/or payment of fines. Tips from the public continued to come into the Sheriff’s Office the following week resulting in another 15 warrants closed. Fees and fines collected as a result of the operation totaled $10,780.
Of the 90 warrants closed, 38 were felony warrants which ranged from drug law violations to illegal use of a weapon.
“We were knocking on doors and hitting neighborhoods at all hours searching for people wanted on everything from bench warrants to felony offenses and violent crimes,” Prator said.
But even though the operation has concluded, Prator said offenders wanted on outstanding warrants shouldn’t get too comfortable. Warrants deputies are continuing their search and are still acting on tips from the public.
