Caddo Sheriff’s detectives have arrested several suspects in connection with the theft of multiple vehicles from a business in Vivian earlier this month, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

On May 20, Vivian Police received a report that eight vehicles were stolen during a break-in at three warehouses in the 900 block of South Pecan Street. The value of the vehicles was estimated at more than $150,000.

One of the vehicles – a 1966 Ford Thunderbird – was located by Caddo Sheriff’s patrol deputies on the night of May 20 on a dirt road off Christian Street in Hosston. Over the next week, Caddo sheriff’s detectives identified several suspects and recovered more vehicles and property stolen from the warehouses.

* On May 22, a 2001 Dodge 2500 truck was recovered at a residence in Linden, Texas.

* On May 23, a tool box was recovered on Pine Island Road near Vivian on property belonging to one of the suspects.

* On May 25, a Honda four-wheeler, two generators, and a gas powered saw was recovered in Queens City, Texas, on property belonging to a second suspect;

* On May 27, a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser and a 2007 Chevy Avalanche were recovered on Crawfish Road near Mira.

Arrested were:

  • Justin Talley, 28, of Vivian, charged with Simple Burglary;
  • Matthew Hunter, 30, of Vivian, charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle;
  • Jacob Kindley, 25, of Queen City, Texas, charged with Simple Burglary and Theft; and
  • Jacob Collins, 26, of Vivian, charged with Simple Burglary and eight counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Collins was arrested in Queen City, Texas, with the assistance of the Queen City Police Department and Cass County Sheriff’s Office. He was transferred to Caddo Parish on Wednesday.

Caddo Sheriff’s deputies investigating the case are Det. Keith Fox, Det. Andy Scoggins, Det. Matt Purgerson, and Sgt. Bobby Herring.

Deputies say the suspects all had varying degrees of involvement in the break-in and thefts which occurred over a three-day weekend March 18-20. At least some of the vehicles were sold for cash and drugs, Herring said.

Detectives are still looking for four vehicles: a 2001 Chevy Corvette Lingenfelter, a 1979 Chevy pickup with “Gone Country” on the tailgate, a 1982 Jeep Wrangler, and a 2007 Jaguar. The investigation is continuing and more suspects are also being sought.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or the stolen property is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 675-2170 or Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
