CPSO offers safety course for college-bound students

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator is helping students prepare for their college send-off by offering a free one-day safety course addressing issues that specifically apply to them.

Young men and women ages 17-21 are encouraged to attend the course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, at CPSO Community Programs, 1501 Corporate Drive, in Shreveport. Professional instructors, educators, and law enforcement officers will present important crime prevention tips and safety information especially for students entering college.

Participants will receive information on personal safety and self-defense, travel and campus safety, distracted and impaired driving, protecting your identity and possessions, banking and finances, dating violence, sexual assault prevention and  awareness, and drug and alcohol awareness. Students with a valid driver’s license can also participate in the distracted driving safety course.

Seating is limited. To register, contact Deputy Vickie Johnson in the Caddo Sheriff’s Community Programs Section at 681-0870 or 681-0875.
