Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator joined with other community leaders today to announce October 2, 2018, as the date to celebrate National Night Out in Caddo and Bossier parishes.

National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The annual event enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement making our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

"We need more nosy neighbors," said Sheriff Steve Prator. "We need more people looking out their windows and telling us what they see if they see things that are suspicious.

"National Night Out is a good time not only for neighbors to get to know their neighbors but for neighbors to get to know the police," he added.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night, some celebrating in August and others in October. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
