Mooringsport woman arrested for exposing unborn baby to meth

Caddo Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Mooringsport woman for exposing her unborn baby to methamphetamines, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Rebecca Lynn Blevins, 32, was arrested this week after an investigation by Detective Jacob Bergren and the Youth Services Division. Blevins is 27-weeks pregnant.

Blevins came under investigation by Youth Services after being arrested on drug-related charges September 4 by the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit. At that time, she made statements to agents about her drug use while pregnant.

Evidence collected by Bergren determined Blevins' drug use affected the health of her baby. Working with the Caddo District Attorney’s Office, Bergren obtained a warrant from District Judge Ramona Emanuel to arrest Blevins for aggravated battery. Blevins had not bonded out of Caddo Correctional Center since her arrest earlier this month, so on Wednesday the battery charge was added to her previous drug charges. Bond on the aggravated battery was set at $100,000.
