18-wheeler flips, blocking I-220

Caddo Sheriff’s deputies were called to a wreck on I-220 early this morning which impacted traffic for nearly 12 hours, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Around 3 a.m., Vincent Wallace, 53, of Little Rock was driving an 18-wheeler for MPV Express headed westbound near the Lakeshore Drive exit. Wallace said he heard a loud pop and applied his brakes, but his rig began to pull to the side. The vehicle traveled onto the muddy shoulder, and the driver couldn’t recover, according to Cpl. Malcolm Laing. The vehicle then flipped onto its side blocking all westbound lanes of traffic.

Wallace was taken to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

CPSO Patrol deputies and the sheriff’s Auxiliary Deputy Unit worked for several hours to block traffic and clear the roadway. One lane was re-opened around mid-morning. All lanes are expected to re-open shortly.
