Sheriff Prator to host Hunter Safety Education courses

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will host a series of Hunter Education classes in the fall.

Participants can take the standard course by attending a three-day session at the Sheriff’s Office south substation located at 9956 Mansfield Road. The course will be offered from 6-10 p.m. each night September 30 through October 2 or October 14-16 and includes education, testing, and marksmanship.

Those who complete hunter safety education on-line must attend a required Field Day beginning at 8 a.m. September 21 at the Caddo Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy. The Academy is located at 15639 Hwy. 1 South. The Louisiana Field Day Qualifier Voucher must be printed and presented to the Instructor when attending Field Day.

Teaching the Louisiana Hunter Education program is a public service offered by Sheriff Prator in partnership the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The course teaches future hunters about hunting, firearms safety, and ethics. State law requires that anyone born after September 1, 1969, be certified in Hunter Education to hunt unaccompanied by an adult certified in Hunter Ed.
