BLANCHARD, La. – One man is dead after being hit by a car on Wasson Road just after. 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Caddo Sheriff’s deputies, the crash happened on Wasson Road at Blanchard Lake Drive.

Deputies spoke to witnesses who said the car was going south when the driver hit a man who was in the middle of the road.

Caddo Parish Fire District 1 Emergency Medical Services pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

The driver and a child who was sitting in the back seat were not hurt in the crash.

Deputies say the driver does not show signs of impairment. However, per state law, deputies have taken a blood sample from the driver.

CPSO crime scene investigators and the Caddo Parish coroner are at the scene.

Wasson Road is temporarily closed while the investigation is ongoing.
