Sergeant Chad Davis of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office was recognized as the Caddo Lodge #179 F&AM First Responder of the Year on Thursday, October 6.

“We are proud of Sgt. Davis,” said Sheriff Steve Prator. “He has demonstrated excellence throughout his 22-year career in the Sheriff’s Office and certainly deserves recognition."

Chad Davis works in the CPSO Patrol Division as the North Substation Sergeant. He is also a member of the Marine Unit and the Dive Team. In his multi-faceted role, co-workers know they can count on Sgt. Davis 24-hours a day to help with accidents, drowning victims or even in a search for fugitives, like on the night of March 14 when a wanted man ran from police officers and jumped into a body of water to get away.

Even when off the clock, Sgt. Davis remains vigilant and ready to help. Back in 2013, while off-duty, he helped save a man who lost consciousness while choking inside a general store in Keithville. Sgt. Davis rolled the citizen onto his side allowing him to breathe until medics arrived.

Sgt. Davis’ public service extends beyond Caddo Parish. He has been deployed to Baton Rouge, Calcasieu, Houma and Port Arthur, Texas to help communities affected by hurricanes as a member of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association Emergency Task Force. Sgt. Davis is also a passionate advocate for people with special needs. For nearly two decades, Sgt. Davis has served as the CPSO liaison for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a non-profit that raises money for the Special Olympics.

Despite his rigorous schedule, Sgt. Davis maintains a positive attitude and is always willing to volunteer his time to help shifts that are understaffed or to participate in community events.
