Caddo sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Rodessa man for a church burglary that occurred in 2008, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Sylvester Reed, 47, was arrested Wednesday by Detective Donnie Laney after Reed completed a separate sentence for breaking into the Rodessa Town Hall in 2007. Both burglaries occurred within a few months of each other.
The First Antioch Baptist Church was broken into on May 25, 2008, and a safe was stolen. Blood collected from a broken bathroom window at the church was linked to Reed. A warrant was obtained for his arrest for simple burglary of a religious building.
A hold was placed on Reed while serving his earlier burglary sentence at the Natchitoches Detention Center. Reed was returned to Caddo Parish to face the new charges on Wednesday.
