Traffic stop ends in arrest for drug possession

A Mooringsport man was arrested on Tuesday after narcotics agents found marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Shreveport Police Chief Willie Shaw.

Agents with the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force, assisted by the Caddo Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 169 near Dayton Road.The driver of the vehicle was identified as Edward Barmore, 50.Barmore consented to a search of his vehicle for drug law violations.K-9 Sgt. Chris Bane and his partner, Ace, conducted a search around the vehicle, and the K-9 gave a positive alert for drugs.

Agents discovered five pounds of marijuana hidden in the engine compartment of Barmore's vehicle.An additional 27.9 grams of marijuana was found at Barmore’s residence on Croom Street.

Barmore was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of schedule I CDS - 2nd offense, and the traffic violation.
