Caddo deputies recover 14 pounds of marijuana

Caddo deputies have obtained arrest warrants for a man who fled from authorities during a pursuit that led to the recovery of more than 14 pounds of marijuana.

Marlon Jackson, 21, of 2615 North Pines Drive, is wanted for manufacturing and distribution of marijuana, resisting an officer, flight from an officer, speeding, and crossing the center line of traffic, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Prator said Sheriff's Deputy Jessica Benevage obtained the arrest warrants for Jackson today while following up on a traffic stop she made Sunday night. Benevage was on patrol when she stopped Jackson on a traffic violation on Pine Hill Road. After getting out of his car and giving Benevage his license, Jackson jumped back into his car and sped away. When he got to his mother's house on North Pines Drive, Jackson abandoned his car and fled on foot toward the back of the house.

Benevage called for assistance from K-9 Deputy Jamie McLamb and Diesel. At the residence, Diesel alerted on a second car parked in the back yard. That car - a 1984 Olds Cutlass used exclusively by Jackson - contained 14.5 pounds of marijuana in the trunk. Scales and bags were also found in the car.

Anyone with information on Jackson's whereabouts is urged to contact the Caddo Sheriff's Office at 675-2170.
