Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator has announced the promotion of Richard Smith to sergeant in the Operations Division. Smith will formally be promoted during a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, at the Sheriff's Re-Entry Facility on Forum Drive.

Smith is a 21-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office. He has served in Corrections, Patrol, Investigations, Training, and Crime Scene Investigations. He now serves as a Patrol supervisor in north Caddo Parish.

Also on Tuesday, Sheriff Prator will present the department's Lifesaving Award to Deputy Matthew Foster and Cpl. Christopher Woods. Foster and Woods are patrol deputies in south Caddo Parish. They are: Marcus Hays, Audria Jones, Nielah Evans, five years; Sonyette Dupree, 10 years; Gary Pace, Linda Richardson, Sabrina Raborn, Carolyn Coleman, Rodney Eaton, Lawrence Pierre, Marcus Bedford, Lavonda' Hogan, and Vera Trammell, 15 years; Lonney Smalley, Stuart Talbot, David Boone, April Wright-Kelly, and George Davis; 20 years; Ronnie Furlow, 25 years; and Randy Coke and Sherry Dyess, 30 years.
