Sobriety checkpoint takes impaired drivers off the road

Four drivers were arrested for driving while intoxicated during a sobriety checkpoint Friday on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.

The Caddo Sheriff's Office led the multi-agency checkpoint which was set up between Linwood Avenue and Kingston Road. Caddo deputies, along with Shreveport Police and LA State Police, checked 558 vehicles at the checkpoint and also provided saturation patrols in the area. Caddo Parish Sheriff's Reserve deputies also assisted with the checkpoint which was funded in part by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

Three of the four people arrested for DWI were repeat offenders, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator. Seven citations were issued for other violations.

Cardinale Barnes, 49, of Shreveport, DWI 2nd offense and no driver's license;

Johnny Egloff, 47, of Keatchie, DWI;

Herbert Gilmore, no age available, Bossier City, DWI 3rd offense; and

Penny Zimmerman, 42, of Shreveport, DWI 2nd offense.
