A Shreveport man died from injuries received after a tree fell on top of the vehicle he was driving, according to Caddo sheriff's deputies.

Jerry Henderson, 73, was less than a block from home in the 10800 block of Hearthwood when a dead tree fell on the roof of his 2012 Jeep Wrangler around 10:30 this morning. The tree, which was in a wooded area off Hearthwood, was estimated at 60 feet tall and three feet wide. After being struck by the tree, the vehicle continued on another block before crashing into a yard at Hearthwood and Sandridge.

Henderson was transported to University Health by Caddo Fire District #3. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The crash is being investigated by the Caddo Sheriff's Office.
