The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash this morning that left one person dead and several others injured, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Hwy. 1 at Trees City Road. A southbound 2001 Mercury Marquis and a northbound 2007 Chevy Trailblazer collided. Deputies are working to determine what caused the collision. The Mercury continued in motion and was then impacted by a northbound 1999 Ford F-150, said Cpl. Michael Vaitkus.

The driver of the Chevy, 39-year-old Keshia Claiborne-Ashley of Shreveport, and the driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Mark Ross of Mooringsport, were both taken to Willis-Knighton Bossier for treatment of their injuries.

The passenger in the Mercury died at the scene. He has been identified as David Gates, 19, of Queen City, Texas. The driver of the Mercury, 19-year-old Kendall Clay Griffin, also of Queen City, was transported to University Health.

The crash remains under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit.
