A Caddo Sheriff's deputy caught a man leaving the scene of a burglary on Monday and arrested him on related charges.

Deputy Jack Anderson was responding to a burglary alarm at Rodessa Foods on West Front Street when he spotted the suspect near the business with a cash box.

Sylvester R. Reed, 43, of Rodessa, ran about three blocks before he was apprehended by Anderson. Reed was arrested for simple burglary, property damage, resisting an officer, theft, and being an in-state fugitive.

Deputies said Reed made entry to the business through a glass door. A garbage bag filled with cigarettes was abandoned as he fled from the business.
