Caddo Sheriff’s Cpl. Rickey Evans was honored by the VFW Post 2238 with the organization’s Gold Medal Award for Safety.

Cpl. Evans is 9-year veteran of the Caddo Sheriff’s Office and currently serves as the school resource officer at North Caddo High School. He previously worked in Court Holding and in Security at the Caddo Correctional Center, where he earned a place on the Emergency Response Team.

As an SRO, Cpl. Evans is responsible for maintaining order at the school and serving as a mentor/liaison to the students. His job includes promoting and reinforcing the development of life skills, personal control, and responsibility for one’s actions. Cpl. Evans also investigates complaints of criminal activity, teaches drug and alcohol awareness classes, and attends parent/student conferences.            

Cpl. Evans is president of the Louisiana Starz Basketball Club, a non-profit organization he formed in 2004 to provide opportunities for personal growth and development in young athletes. He also serves as a volunteer coach with the North Caddo High School girls’ basketball team.
