Caddo Sheriff's deputies are on the scene of a fatal crash on I-20 eastbound at mile marker 3 in Greenwood.

Cpl. Mike Vaitkus, of the Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit, said traffic was backed up on the interstate due to an earlier accident around 7:15 p.m. when the driver of a tandem 18-wheeler rear-ended a Jaguar knocking it into another 18-wheeler. The driver and passenger of the Jaguar and were taken to University Health Center. The driver was later pronounced dead. The passenger is listed in stable condition.

No names have been released. Charges against the driver of the Yellow Transportation 18-wheeler, which caused the accident, are pending.

Vaitkus said all eastbound lanes near the accident are closed while the crash is being investigated. Waskom Police and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office are diverting eastbound traffic at Hwy. 80.
