Two people died in a traffic crash in north Caddo Parish last night, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Just before 11 p.m., the Sheriff's Office and Fire District #1 responded to a major crash on LA 538 south of Moorinsport. Deputies say a 1998 Ford Escort was northbound in a curve and crossed the center line striking a southbound 2003 Dodge pickup head on.

Both the driver and rear passenger of the Escort died at the scene.Their identities will be released by the Coroner's Office  A female passenger, age 20, was transported to University Health. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her family. The driver of the pickup, Jerry Box, 45, of Mooringsport, received minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit.
