La Tienda Pierre, a deputy with the Caddo Sheriff’s Office, was elected 1st vice president of the Louisiana DARE Officers' Association during the annual DARE training conference this past week.

Pierre was elected by the 110 DARE officers throughout the state who attended the conference in Pineville.  The 1st Vice President position is the highest elected position in the LDOA and puts Pierre in line to become the president of the Louisiana DARE Officers' Association in 2016-17.

Pierre joined the Caddo Sheriff’s Office as a deputy in 2005 and has been a DARE officer for three of those years. She teaches the DARE curriculum at Blanchard, Keithville, and Walnut Hill Elementary Schools, and Southfield School.

“When I was chosen to become a DARE officer, I made a commitment to myself to do as much as I can for this program,” Pierre said. “I was once a DARE student, and I am proud to keep representing what this program is all about.”
