Attorney arrested for ID theft

Local attorney Daryl Gold was arrested today by the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force on a warrant charging him with identity theft, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Gold is accused of obtaining credit using the name and social security number of his ex-wife.

An investigation by Caddo Sheriff's Detective Bobby Herring determined that Gold attempted to obtain $5,000 in credit from Capital One in April using his ex-wife's personal information. The investigation also revealed that he was successful in obtaining two separate lines of credit through American Express using the information.

The total amount of credit obtained by Gold using the identity of his ex-wife was $71,000. The financial loss to American Express was $53,635.
Gold was conducting business at the Red River Parish Courthouse today. Task Force detectives traveled there to execute the warrant. Late this evening, he was booked into the Red River Parish Jail on a fugitive charge. He was expected to be transferred to the Caddo Correctional Center tonight by Caddo deputies. His bond on the identity theft charge has been set at $10,000.
