Sheriff to promote new captain in Internal Affairs

 

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will promote Chris Abney to captain during an 8:30 a.m. ceremony tomorrow at the Sheriff’s Re-Entry Facility, 1121 Forum Drive.

Abney will replace Captain Bill Duncan in the Internal Affairs/Personnel Division. Duncan is retiring after 33 years of service.

Abney is a 14-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. He has served in Corrections, Special Investigations, Emergency Response Team supervisor at CCC, and Support/Criminal Records. He also serves on the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team and Honor Guard.

Also being recognized at Thursday’s ceremony is Deputy John Childress who will receive the department’s Lifesaving Award for his actions while working an off-duty job in August. Childress performed CPR on a restaurant employee who stopped breathing.

Additionally, several employees will be recognized for their years of service with the Sheriff’s Office. They are Joshua Holley, Keith Morgan, Esthman Newman, Wilford Ross, Roosevelt Tadlock, Zachery Thomas, Jonathan Williams, Roy Davis, Carl Bradley, Consuelo Lawrence-Fuller, Vandrez Johnson, Perseus Pugh, Frederick Richardson, and Kawanis Lafitte, five years; Felicia Henry, Rickey Evans, Marcus Green, James Hendrix, Casey Jones, Devin Pickett, Anthony Satcher, and Eddie Thomas Jr., 10 years; Chad Davis, Roland Dunn, Demetria Parker, and Alisha Williams, 15 years; Lester Scott, John Witham, Lajuana Gay, James Houston, Joel Griffin, Betty Bryant, and Elizabeth Jackson, 20 years; Joey Raborn and Kenneth Hester, 25 years; and Kevin Dunn, 30 years.
