A woman who managed a Shreveport convenience store was arrested on Monday for stealing nearly $37,000 from the business, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Shemekia Parker, 40, of Bossier City, worked at the Circle K in the 800 block of Olive Street, where she was responsible for preparing daily deposits. Parker is accused of manipulating accounting records in an attempt to conceal the theft.

Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Herring said the thefts occurred between January 24, 2015 and January 28, 2015. During a surprise audit, Parker was asked for two missing deposits. When she went to her car to retrieve the deposits, she fled, never returning to the store.

Parker was located Monday at her new place of employment - a store on North Market Street. She was arrested for felony theft and booked into the Shreveport City Jail awaiting her transfer to the Caddo Correctional Center.
