Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator says evacuations are no longer being recommended for the area affected by a well control issue in south Caddo Parish.

Residents within a half-mile radius of the well have been advised that the situation is stable and evacuations are no longer being recommended; however, residents should be prepared to leave should the situation change.

The well, owned by Chesapeake, is located two miles north of Red River Parish and 200 yards east of Hwy. 1.

Both lanes of travel are currently closed on Hwy. 1 between Hwys. 175 and 509. The road could remain closed for several days until repairs to the well are made.
