Caddo Sheriff announces promotions

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will promote three deputies during a 9 a.m. ceremony tomorrow, April 21, at the Sheriff’s Re-Entry Facility, 1121 Forum Drive.

Gary Baird will be promoted to lieutenant in Operations Records. Eddie Thomas  will be promoted to sergeant in Judicial Services, and Felix Thomas will be promoted to sergeant in Crime Scene Investigations.

Baird has been a Caddo Sheriff’s deputy for 20 years. He has served in Corrections, Patrol, Narcotics, and Crime Scene Investigations. He also was on the Emergency Response Team at Caddo Correctional Center and served 10 years on the Special Response Team.

Eddie Thomas is a 10-year Sheriff’s Office veteran. He has worked in Corrections, Patrol, and Warrants.

Felix Thomas has worked with the Caddo Sheriff’s Office for 21 years. He has served in Corrections, Patrol, and Crime Scene Investigations. 

Also being recognized at Tuesday’s ceremony is Deputy Lonney Smalley who will receive the department’s Lifesaving Award for his response to call involving a man who threatened to jump from the I-20 overpass.

Several employees will be recognized for their years of service with the Sheriff’s Office. They are Treserla Gladney and Crystal Tasby, five years; Brittany Chenevert, 10 years; Erma Edwards-Cowthorn, Dexter White, Penny Menard, and D.E. Stevens, 15 years; Janet Sowell, Rodney Spikes, Jeff Thomas, Jacqueline Winston, Ricky York, Sr., Darin Marshall, Joseph Gladney, Darrell Smith, Ada Edwards, and Yolanda Williams, 20 years; Don Gibbs, 25 years; Owen McDonnell, 30 years; and Mike Middleton, 35 years.
