Caddo deputies are on the scene of an 18-wheeler accident on I-49 North, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Henderson, 31, of Lavonia, GA, was traveling northbound near Exit 231 (Vivian-Gilliam exit) around 10:30 a.m. when he ran off the road and into the median. He over corrected, flipping the tractor trailer rig onto its side.

All northbound lanes are blocked, according to Cpl. Ken Davis. Traffic is being diverted to the off ramp but is able to re-enter I-49 at the next on ramp.

Henderson was hauling a trailer full of cardboard boxes, which partially spilled onto the roadway. The road is expected to be closed for the next few hours while crews off-load the freight onto another trailer.  

Henderson received minor injuries and was transported to University Health.  The accident remains under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff’s Patrol Division and Traffic Safety Unit.
