Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator announced that the department is now taking applications for a new auxiliary deputy class that will begin September 22.

Classes are scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays and will be held at Summer Grove Baptist Church.All classes will be taught by Caddo Parish deputies.Subjects taught will include patrol procedures, defensive driving, radio communications, CPR and first aid, hazardous materials, evidence handling, passenger safety awareness, traffic control, and community programs.

Auxiliary deputies assist the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office with duties including traffic control at accident scenes, canvassing neighborhoods on burglary details, assisting with traffic escorts and sobriety checkpoints, and many other activities.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a good personal history, and be a high school graduate or equivalent of.
