Caddo Sheriff's Detective Bobby Herring received the Law Enforcement Officer of Year Award from the Downtown Shreveport Kiwanis Club during the club's meeting on Thursday.

Herring is a detective with the Sheriff's Financial Crimes Task Force. He recently concluded a two-year, multi-million identity theft case where more than 1,200 people throughout the southeastern United States were victimized. Their identities were stolen and used to set up fraudulent cable accounts in Caddo Parish. Eleven suspects benefited from the thefts. Herring investigated the case, identified the suspects, and obtained arrest warrants for the suspects. All 11 have since been arrested.
