Sheriff's Safety Town kicks off Living Legacy project

A fundraising project to sell red maple and crepe myrtle trees that will be planted at Sheriff's Safety Town will help raise money for construction of the children's safety education center.

Sheriff's Safety Town is selling 20 red maples and 25 crepe myrtles that will be planted within Safety Town, which is currently under construction at LA Hwy 3132 and Jewella Avenue. The cost of each tree is $250 and includes a donor plaque that will be placed at the foot of the tree, giving lifetime donor recognition.

"This is a lasting way to honor a loved one, recognize a civic group or charity for community involvement, or support the cause of keeping children safe in northwest Louisiana," said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Safety Town is expected to open in the fall of 2008.
