A Shreveport man was arrested for exploitation of the infirmed for stealing nearly all of his 86-year-old mother's life savings, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Paul Brown, 64, of the 8500 block of Kingston Road, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant obtained by Sheriff's Detective Bobby Herring.

Brown is accused of using his mother's power of attorney to misappropriate over $300, 000 in gold coins. He sold the gold for cash from 2011 through 2014 and spent the money on vacations, jewelry, home remolding, and other family gifts. The money was not used to benefit Brown's mother.
