Caddo Sheriff's Office responds to fiery crash; citizen pulls driver to safety

Caddo Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single vehicle crash around 1:20 this morning where the vehicle involved was fully engulfed in flames, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Jeremy Smith, 19, was traveling east on Pinehill Road at McDaniel when his vehicle left the roadway in a curve and struck two road signs and a mailbox.  Smith continued east in the ditch and hit a culvert. His 2015 Hyundai Sonata then became airborne and traveled 82 feet before hitting the ground.  The vehicle came to rest in the front lawn of 4605 Pinehill Road and caught fire with Smith still inside. He was pulled to safety by the Rev. Billy Jeter, who lives in the area and arrived just before deputies.

Smith was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. He was later arrested for driving while intoxicated.
