Five Caddo deputies to receive promotions

Five Caddo Sheriff’s deputies will receive promotions during an 8:30 a.m. ceremony tomorrow at the Re-Entry Facility, 1121 Forum Drive.

Steven Joe will be promoted to captain, replacing Captain Kenny Sanders as commander of the Caddo Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy. Sanders is retiring after 30 years of service.

Other promotions are Erik Lawrence to lieutenant in Investigations, Gilbert Roraback to lieutenant in Work Release, Bobby Herring to sergeant in Financial Crimes, and Dexter White to sergeant in Patrol.

Also being recognized at Tuesday’s ceremony are Lt. Carl Townley and SPD Agent Stacy Coleman of the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit. Townley and Coleman disarmed a man who produced a weapon when they stopped the vehicle he was in on New Year’s Eve. Four other people were also in the car, including two children. Thanks to the actions of the agents, no one was injured. Townley and Coleman will receive the Caddo Sheriff’s Distinguished Action Medal for action that exposed them to personal danger above and beyond the normal demands of law enforcement.

Lt. Michael Gray will receive the Sheriff’s Lifesaving Award, which is presented for saving or prolonging the life of a citizen. Gray performed CPR on a two-year-old boy who fell into a swimming pool in December. The child was hospitalized for several days but died on December27.  

Several employees will be recognized for their years of service with the Sheriff’s Office. They are James Cantrell, Billy Wright, Charles Middleton, Brian Godfrey, Delexis Richardson, Debrah Dyles, and Felecia Sweatt, five years; Lawrence Barberousse, David Butler, Jeremy Edward, Connie Ingles, and Julius Jackson, 10 years; Kenneth Davis, Ronnie Jones, William Kline, James McDaniel, Ondray Miles, Michael Page, Timothy Young, Leon Wright, and Jeanetta Miller, 15 years; Shamanda Holmes, Dorcus Godfrey, Rose Reliford, Richard Corbett, and Kevin McCullin, 20 years; William Mikesell, Darwin Jones, Sandra Black, and Patrick Brooks, 25 years; Kenny Sanders and Margaret McClure, 30 years.
