Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, noted expert on active shootings, will present a symposium at Centenary College’s Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on how to manage an intruder in an institutional setting.   Grossman has made revolutionary contributions to our understanding of killing in war, the psychological costs of war, the root causes of the current “virus” of violent crime that is raging around the world, and the process of healing the victims of violence in war and peace.  His book, On Combat, is required reading for US Marines as well as FBI Academy and other colleges. 

This symposium is made possible by an award from the National Library of Medicine to NSU Shreveport Library.  Included on the planning committee are librarians from LSUHSC-S Library, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Centenary College Police and the Hospital Coordinator for Region 7. 

Target audience includes librarians, first responders and hospital emergency preparedness personnel.

Librarians will meet after the symposium at NSU Shreveport Library with Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Officials to discuss an appropriate response to intruders within a library setting.
